When I spotted this bright yellow cup of sunshine, I couldn’t resist! Then when the bright, purple H peeked out from the back side, I knew (because my last name starts with an H) it was meant to be! As that H stared back at me, I thought about words that start with H and may describe me. I want to encourage you to go find you own cup and start pouring out the love… over YOURSELF!! Pour yourself a hot, cup of coffee (or tea) and spend a few minutes jotting down all the great things that your letter says about YOU. Encourage yourself. Speak some praise, love and joy into your weary heart or spirit! Because life (and the people in it) can sometimes beat us up, we need to get into the habit of speaking life and joy over ourselves and not always depend on others to “fill our cup!” If you wait on someone else to come fill you up, you may be waitin’ a while!
Here’s my list:
H is for… HARDY I’m a Hardy girl and a “hardy” girl. The boy I dated all through high school made my heart skip a beat. After 4 years together, we broke up and moved on. Then 25 years later, we reconnected and then got married!! So, when I married him, I took his last name. Hardy became my name. I’ve been through some painful junk in my life too. All my life experiences have made me strong and resilient, thus the reason God gave me a new name, “Hardy” which means: capable of fatigue, able to endure and withstand hardship and strong. I think the name fits me! I’m a strong chickie!
H is for… HAPPINESS I choose to be happy and hope it’s contagious! Life is tough and not everyone is happy, some are hurting, broken or sad. Making an effort to deliver some joy, or even a basket of sunshine to others in need of happiness, is a small way, I try to shine some light into someone’s world!
H is for… HALLELUJAH! This is what I shout out almost daily! If I’m just praisin’ the Lord, or one of my kids got a good grade on a project, or left me in shock for a good reason, I shout out Hallelujah!
H is for… HOBBY If I’m not doing something I love, then my life lacks luster and passion. Our hobbies are our outlets for creativity. Carving out time to pursue your passion is essential. Without time to do the things you love, we end up feeling trapped under life’s pressures and demands. Ugggg!!
H is for… HEART I think I have a heart for others… a heart to love and give. I have a collection of small heart-shaped paper weights that people have given to me over the years. They remind me to love; including the unlovable!
H is for… HONESTY is a trait I’m proud to say I possess. I’m honest, loyal, devoted and faithful (sometimes to a fault!) Expectation: Others should be honest… if they’ve proven otherwise, I steer clear.
H is for… HELP asking for help is my weakness. I’m super guilty of saying, “oh no girl, I got this… I’ve got it all done. I can do it! I’m great, don’t worry!” But that H reminds me to swallow my pride and ask for help (or receive it) when I need it.
H is for HIM I believe that HE is greater than me. He is in control, made me, knows me and loves me. His ways are better than mine, He is all-knowing, my protector, my counselor, my advocate, my friend. He holds me in the palm of His hand. HE is God. His son is Jesus. I am loved by Him. I remind myself of this truth every day and that I am not alone, forgotten or forsaken. Someday, I’ll be with HIM.
